you have been the one, you have been the one for me

im not much of a fan of late-night network tv. a lot of it is really boring and not all that funny.

conan is pretty funny. i enjoyed his quirky, pseudo-irish-canadian humor and style. he always had good guests, but never really had good musical performances. moby doing "creep?" gimme a break.

leno is ok cuz hes a walking punchline. snl clowns him up and down. the voice, the chin, the hair, everything. oh, and kevin eubanks rules.

i can't remember the last time i watched letterman. i do make top ten lists, though.

most of the time, if i am watching tv after 11pm, its howard stern on e! or sportscenter reruns. on saturdays if im not too wasted then its snl.

all the news programs today spoke about how much johnny carson meant to them. when they were growing up, johnny carson was the barometer of america. the one guy that everyone, baby killers and war mongers alike, loved and respected and listened to.

his heyday was before my time, but i heard he was on a tv show or something.

a popular story is that johnny carson could say "have you heard about the toilet paper shortage?" and even if there wasn't one, the next day there would be. he was that important.

johnny carson was a great man, and thats not just kissing his ass like they did with reagan. he really was great because he brought joy to lots of people everyday. he entertained america like no one has before or since. he is a reminder of the days when there was one america, where people had hope and didnt have to hide behind fear and war and moral values.

before spider holes and dirty bombs. there was heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere's johnny and the late show couch.

johnny always said that he wanted his epitaph to say "I'll be right back!"

we should all be so lucky.
