dear hollywood/american movie industry,

what the fuck are you guys doing?

since when did you decide to abandon the old plan of, um, making decent movies and replace it with the lets-mass-produce-the-same-thing-20-times-and-over-hype it plan? cuz nobodys buying it. literally, nobody is buying it.

i don't care if national treasure was the number one movie 51234 weeks in a row, its still a shitty movie. and nobody will buy the dvd either.

how does a great movie like hero that people loved and saw in great numbers get shelved for 2 fucking years? because you are too busy putting out cinematic opuses (opii?) like The Grudge and Cheaper by the Dozen. they're so bad, you guys are forced to bombard us with a media/news hype blitz the week before the movies open so that people actually go seen them. is that how you want to make movies?

you guys are following the same path as the music industry. hollywood has put out shit for the last 5 or so years, with the occasional gem to keep itself afloat. they get surprised when the public sees through their scene and refuses to keep paying money for shit.

they don't want to pay $7 a ticket to watch Ice Cube get beat up by little kids in a Home Alone 1,2,3, and 4 ripoff.

people want to go to the theater and see good movies. They want to smile. They want to think. They want to be surprised. They want to laugh so hard that soda comes out of their noses and they spit half-chewed popcorn so far it leaves little spots on the screen.

and don't focus on dvd sales so damn much. when people really like a movie, they will go out and buy it on dvd the day it comes out. you don't have to run a whole nother media hype blitz.

just make good movies.

and put ed norton and john cusack in more of them. thanks.
