you have been the one, you have been the one for me

In the journalism school at the University of the People, future local news anchors are taught that objectivity is the most important tenet of being a journalist. they are taught to say things like "it was alleged that" and "a reliable source tells us that" and other bullshit phrases to give the air of walking the center line when in fact, the fence between the left and the right is nothing more than a strip of barbed wire that nobody wants to walk on.

objectivity is a lie. history is a myth written by the winners.

journalists are liars. there, i said it. i am too, of course, but i dont work under a veil of ethical superiority or upon a podium of fair and balanced propaganda. i say what i want and what i think and if you agree, great. if you dont, you must still think fox news is really just news.

so, why do i want a column at the
daily tar heel, a local college rag that amounts to little more than box scores and crosswords? why would i want to be involved with a room full of those same elitist fakers that preach the truth but spit venom in every direction? simple.

im the best liar for the job.

in reality though, the editorial page is the only page that anyone at this school ever reads. they turn to it every day thinking that the cartoon will be funny, that the editorials will be insightful and relevant, and that the column will be interesting and thought-provoking.

and everyday we are disappointed. miserably miserably disappointed.

its sad really, because the editorial page should be the sword, the voice of the thinking blue rising above the sea of red. leading and uniting the leaders of tomorrow.

actually im taking what started in this blog to the next level. i have honed my skilled and i think i am ready. i will forgo my remaining years of blogging eligibility to enter the mass media world.

wish me luck.
