the Book of Revelation talks about the end of days, the last dying breath of the world. the end of all things to come is brought on by four mysterious equestrians, the four horsemen of the apocalypse. under the command of the Lamb and the Throne, the four riders come on four colored horses and carry with them the tools of their trade.
the first horseman came on a white horse:
"Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest"
george dubya bush came into his re-election having established himself as a war monger and bent on making himself king. america gave him the crown of jesusland and he did not disappoint their expectations. he rode into iraqi bent on conquest. no sad-ham, no problem.
the second horseman came on a fiery red horse:
"Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make men slay each other. To him was given a large sword."
of dubya's coalition of the willing, nearly two thousand men have been slain, on top of countless more iraqis who love freedom and liberty as much as bush claims he does. the brothers and fathers and sons of america and poland have gone to iraq on a mission in lust of conquest and have shot at and have been shot at for over two years. the american military is the largest sword in the world, and bush has wielded it fiercly, knowing that with it, he wields the power to take peace from the world.
the third horseman came on a black horse:
Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, "A quart of wheat for a day's wages, and three quarts of barley for a day's wages, and do not damage the oil and the wine!"
those of us in america who see what is happening to our world know the real reason why the white horse and the fiery red horse first rode into iraq. the black horse of famine saves the luxurious oil and wine for the conquerors, cheap gas for our suv's and the texas oil lobby, amoung others. dubya leaves only poorman's grains for those left in poverty by his conquest and war. where a day's wages should garner enough food for a man's family, it now barely brings enough for the man himself.
the fourth horseman came on a sickly yellow green pale horse and he brings a friend:
Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.
Death conquers all, and with all the tools of the three before, the fourth horseman rides into town and shows no mercy. first, the holiest of holy men on the earth, then innocents left in the wake of the fiery red horse, then twenty immigrants in paris. they jumped from high-rise hotel windows like so many accountants in new york on that day in september four years ago.
and in just eight verses, the Good Book tells us of how our world is ending right before our eyes. God sits upon his Throne with the Lamb and the Disciple by his side, and commands the colored equestrians to bring destruction upon this world to make way for a new world without pain, death, or suffering. people of faith live with their eyes closed. they ignore the coming of conquest, war, famine, and death, but those of us who live with open eyes see the next world coming.
see you on the flip side.
